The national disaster management agency reported two strong aftershocks, magnitudes 6.4 and 5.8, occurring within minutes of each other. The first quake, a 6.4, hit Defne at 20:04 local time, aligning with Moscow time, with the epicenter about 17 kilometers beneath the surface. The second, a 5.8, followed at 20:07 near Samandag, with its origin about 16.7 kilometers deep. The European Seismological Center indicated that tremors were felt across a wide area, including Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Cyprus, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, and Egypt, roughly 400 kilometers from the epicenter.
