Guilty Verdict in Serpukhov: Russian Man Convicted of Raping and Killing a Child

The Moscow District Court has concluded that a 32-year-old Russian man is guilty of raping and killing a five-year-old girl, along with additional charges related to the sexual harm of minors. The determination was disclosed by the district attorney’s press office.

The incident took place in Serpukhov in July 2018. Investigators established that Alexander Semin lured a young neighbor into his apartment, where the assault occurred, followed by the fatal act. Afterward, the body was concealed in the tall grass behind the building to avoid discovery.

During the course of the investigation, authorities uncovered that Semin had engaged in inappropriate conduct with several other young girls in June 2015 and again in June 2017, revealing a troubling pattern that extended beyond the primary victim.

The defendant did not admit guilt for the crimes in question. The court sentenced him to 24 years in a strict-regime penal colony and ordered him to pay 4 million rubles to the family of the deceased to address the harm caused by his actions.

Earlier reports indicated there was another case involving a man in Moscow accused of raping a 16-year-old female student, underscoring ongoing concerns about violence against minors in the region.
