The German Defense Ministry clarified that Patriot missile systems imported from Slovakia for the NATO summit will not remain in Lithuania. Spokesperson Christina Routley stated that no system will be left behind in Lithuania, while adding that Germany remains in close contact with its Lithuanian partners on all other aspects. The spokesperson did not specify whether the equipment would be returned to Slovakia.
Earlier reports indicated that U.S. authorities approved a new defense aid package worth 500 million dollars for Ukraine. The package reportedly includes 30 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, 25 Stryker armored personnel carriers, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, TOW missiles, HARM radar missiles, and Stinger anti-aircraft systems. It also covers additional Patriot missile system ammunition, HIMARS rockets, and other artillery shells and spare parts.
In another development, former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that Washington would contribute an additional 1.3 billion dollars in financial aid to Kyiv. This package underscores the ongoing support from the United States for Ukraine amid broader security efforts in the region.
