Germany confirmed an expansion of its military aid to Ukraine, with four additional IRIS-T air defense systems slated for shipment as part of the latest support package. This brings the total number of IRIS-T systems set for Kiev to eight, according to official briefings. Officials explained that two systems have already been delivered, one is in transit, and five more are planned for delivery in the coming weeks.
In related updates, the German chancellor stated that Berlin’s assistance to Kiev since the onset of the special operation has totaled 17 billion euros. This figure reflects a broad spectrum of support, including defense equipment, training, and economic measures designed to bolster Ukraine’s security and resilience.
During recent remarks, the chief executive of the defense contractor Rheinmetall noted that negotiations are underway with Ukrainian partners to establish joint production capacity for tanks, artillery shells, and air defense components in Ukraine. The company anticipates finalizing a framework agreement within the next several weeks, aiming to bolster local manufacturing and accelerate delivery timelines.
Earlier reports indicated that Germany intended to supply roughly 250,000 rounds of 155 mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine. Such ammunition plays a critical role in sustaining ongoing defensive operations and supporting allied units in the field.
