Open to everyone
Following an Easter pause this March, Menjars de la Terra returns the week of April 8–12 in a region steeped in culinary tradition: the Alicante Mountains. The opening chapters of these gastronomic days traverse the Baix Vinalopó and Vega Baja, leaving palates with memories of a festival that fuses the purest tradition with bold, modern twists.
This new season marks the third edition of the gastronomy weeks held in the Alicante area. It showcases a rich, varied culinary scene and a commitment to local products of the highest quality.
The information initiative, backed unconditionally by the Provincial Assembly, partners with La Gruta de Víctor in Alcoy; Casa Vicenica in Cocentaina; Casa Paqui in Castalla; Piramide in Banyeres de Mariola; and L’aplec in Onil.
Since the province’s most beloved gastronomy event resumed last year, these gastronomy days continue with a second edition. This year, attention centers on the Alicante Mountain Cherry and the Traditional Spirits of Alicante, two Protected Designations of Origin in the province. Five participating restaurants will weave these products into signature dishes.
Menjars de la Terra has been revived with a refreshed format. Returning with the Provincial Council’s support, the week-long tour covers different weeks across the province, visiting a new restaurant each day from Monday to Friday. The event collaborates with the province’s Denominations of Origin Regulatory Councils, emphasizing a clear commitment to promoting Alicante products. Private sponsors also contribute to the initiative.
The strategy chosen by journalist, writer, and gastronome Antonio González Pomata for last year’s comeback—harking back to gastronomy days of the 80s and 90s—clearly outperformed expectations. Support from thirty-five participating restaurants and more than five thousand satisfied guests underscored its success.
Open to everyone
The Provincial Council again backed the initiative, highlighting the province’s rich and diverse gastronomy while promoting emblematic products, particularly Designated Origin items, through widespread dissemination and education.
Menjars de la Terra gastronomy days remain accessible to all. Those who wish to enjoy specially prepared menus at participating restaurants can do so for a set price, inclusive of drinks and VAT. Reservations are made directly with the restaurant. It’s a rare chance to sample the creations of the participating establishments and enjoy some lively entertainment.
