For another season, virtual pilots and aspiring champions from around the world gather to chase glory in the Ferrari Velas Esports Series. Competitors push to secure a spot in the regional finals scheduled for September 13 and 14, with the grand final set for October 2 in Italy. The overall winner in the driver group earns a coveted position on the Scuderia Ferrari Velas Esports team, elevating their virtual racing career to a new level of prestige.

The key moment of the competition

The 2022 season is entering a pivotal phase as the renowned virtual motorsport championship nears its climax. At 9 pm on September 6, European qualifiers will feature intense battles across celebrated tracks in simulated racing. The European lineup includes challenges on the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, the Americas Circuit, Spa-Francorchamps, and the Indianapolis Grand Prix circuit. These races determine who advances to the next stage and secures a chance to compete for the grand prize in the final in Italy.

For drivers and fans, this second qualifying event carries extra excitement with the debut of two new circuits to broaden the geographic mix, integrating tracks across the Americas and the recently added Indianapolis Grand Prix. The races take place within Assetto Corsa Competizione, one of the two simulation platforms used for the 2022 championship, developed by Kunos Simulazione.

Based on Assetto Corsa Competizione

Adding the current campaign to Assetto Corsa, already in use, proved a smart move, and the European Qualifying Race gains extra energy thanks to guest appearances and expert analysis. Notably, Maya Weug, the first female driver from the Ferrari Driver Academy and a competitor in the Italian F4 Championship, will join hosts Nicki Shield and Paul Jeffrey at the Ferrari Esports Studio in Italy to share insights from both real and virtual motorsports. Following the European show, a new episode of the North American qualifying racing show will air on September 7 at 9 PM Eastern Time as part of a fresh initiative for the 2022 season.

North America program

The North American program mirrors the European format and features a Red Bull of sorts in the form of Dino Beganovic, the Formula Regional European Championship leader. The four races occur on four distinct laser-scanned circuits within Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Contest, giving North American drivers one last chance to qualify for their Regional Finals before the grand showdown.

European and North American drivers alike delivered impressive performances in the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 and Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo broadcasts. The Ferrari Velas Esports Series typically includes a presence from the Formula 1 team, with interviews featuring Charles Leclerc planning to appear in European and North American broadcasts. The broadcasts will be hosted by Paul Jeffrey in Europe and another host in North America, promising a memorable night.

By the end of each broadcast, the strongest virtual pilots earn a place in the upcoming stage, the Regional Finals. The European Regional Finals take place on September 13 at 21:00 CEST, while North American finals run on September 14 at 21:00 EDT. In these finals, the top 24 drivers from each region will race on two simulation platforms for a shot at the Final, which airs on October 2 at 21:00 CEST.

Race tracks

The final tracks for the regional finals have been selected. European contenders will tackle Silverstone and Imola, while North American racers will race on Dry Lagoon and Watkins Glen. The finals will feature guest appearances from Ferrari F1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Live streams of qualifying races and regional finals will be available on the official Twitch channel.
