Faro: a flamenco journey inspired by the lighthouse and the sea
Faro is a flamenco show born from the poetry of a lighthouse and crafted for a tour that visits notable lighthouses along the Spanish coast in the summer of 2017. Beginning in the north with Faro de Peñas in Asturias, the journey moves through Avilés and Faro de la Cerda in Cantabria, travels south from Rompido in Huelva to Sacratif in Granada, then heads east from Cartagena to Tarragona, and finally concludes in Cádiz, a lighthouse that lingers in Eduardo Guerrero’s earliest memories.
Scenes of storms and breathtaking sunrises frame the performance, with playful moments and intimate encounters. The lighthouse stands as a witness to battles, celebrations, and the rhythm of human life, greeting Eduardo Guerrero’s dance with the same ease he greets the glimmer of sunset on the horizon.
In Faro, musical interludes weave with Guerrero’s dancing, guiding the show toward a rising crescendo. A concise white set design, the vibrant hues of the costumes, and precise choreography command the scene. The lighthouse’s subtleties and grace mirror Guerrero’s presence, as do the sea and the waves it lights up by night.
The Mediterranean Flamenco Festival serves as the backdrop for the presentation, a suggestion that invites audiences to feel the pulse of a regional culture anchored by the sea and its horizons.
Bringing flamenco closer to Alicante and Murcia, the event underscores both cities as cultural and tourist anchors that echo flamenco as a living heritage with global resonance.
