Codemasters and Electronic Arts have announced that F1 22 will introduce crossplay later this month. Before full integration, players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam and Origin) can compete with friends. The update schedule includes the Social Career and Two Player Career modes from August 12 to 14.

Cross-play, a feature driven by community requests, will enhance matchmaking and allow players to race with friends across different platforms. Users will also have the option to disable crossplay if they prefer to compete only within their own device family. In-lobby invitations enable players to bring friends from other platforms, accessible via the Invite Friends option. While racing, players can pause and navigate to Invites & Requests to review and accept incoming requests.

An Adaptive AI system adjusts the difficulty of AI opponents to match the player’s skill, while immersion options cover pit stops, formation laps, and training sessions. A safety car update adds realism to race day experiences.
The game expands its universe with F1 Life, a social hub where players can display their collections of fashion, accessories, trophies, and supercars. These items can be driven around the track during the Pirelli Hot Lap feature, which revisits the weekend’s opening segment. Returning features include My Team, which now begins with three starting points, a 10 Years Race mode, two-player functionality, and multiplayer with offline split-screen. Virtual Reality support launches on PC, delivering the most immersive track experience to date.
