The cooperative action RPG The First Descendant, developed by the South Korean studio Nexon, has released its first teaser after previously being known under the working title Project Magnum. While a precise launch date remains undecided, beta testing is planned for October, inviting players to sample the cooperative experience ahead of the full release.

The narrative centers on a fictional region called the Ingris continent, where forces from an alien threat press to overtake the land. Players step into the shoes of a descendant, a person who has awakened extraordinary powers, and work to thwart the invaders while uncovering the origins of their abilities.

Designed with team play in mind, the game supports squads of up to four players who undertake shared missions, participate in world events, and confront massive bosses. Progression involves upgrading gear and equipment through battles and exploration. Each character can equip a combination of three primary weapons and four secondary items, enabling varied combat roles and strategies.

Character choices come with distinct skill sets and special abilities, offering different playstyles. In combat, players will access a range of gadgets to gain the upper hand, including tools like a grappling hook that allows dynamic movement and strategic positioning during firefights.

The First Descendant will be distributed as a free-to-play title. It will arrive on personal computers as well as major consoles, including Xbox and PlayStation platforms, expanding access to a broad gaming audience.
