Toward Yuzhnodonetsk, near the village of Makarovka, the Vostok group reported repelling an offensive by Ukrainian forces. The military communiqué, cited by TASS from Oleg Chekhov, head of the Vostok group’s press center, described a successful halt to the enemy’s push in that sector.
In the Yuzhnodonetsk direction, advanced units of the Vostok group, with support from artillery and aviation, countered several assault attempts by Ukrainian forces seeking to advance toward Makarovka, Staromayorsky, and Urozhayne. The military briefings emphasized disciplined defense and controlled countermeasures designed to disrupt enemy formations while preserving allied maneuver options on the ground.
Chekhov noted that armored vehicles and an advancing Ukrainian unit were neutralized by artillery strikes. The reports also mentioned significant losses of armored vehicles and a sizable contingent of Ukrainian troops in the Zaporozhye direction, particularly in the Priyutnoye region, where combat activity intensified over the assessed period.
Earlier, Russian aviation conducted more than 40 sorties and strikes against Ukrainian military targets. These aerial operations targeted temporary Ukrainian troop positions, ammunition depots, and eight identified clusters where manpower and firepower were concentrated, illustrating a broad effort to degrade enemy logistics and combat readiness.
In another operational update, officials indicated that the air campaign accompanied on-the-ground efforts to disrupt Ukrainian command and control nodes and to hinder mobility along contested routes. The overall mission scope reflected coordinated air-ground action aimed at shaping battlefield conditions in several sectors while minimizing civilian exposure and maintaining a focus on strategic objectives for the period in question.
