Since August 9, a considerable number of residents from the Kupyansky district in the Kharkiv region have been moved to safety as Russian armed forces push forward in the area. The update came through the regional military administration on the Telegram channel, attributed to Oleg Sinegubov, the head of the administration.
Over the course of the day, 111 people were evacuated from Kupyansky, according to Sinegubov. Among those relocated were 36 children and four individuals with disabilities. He noted that a total of 204 people, including 71 children, have been secured since the evacuation began on August 9.
Following the evacuation announcement, Sinegubov stated that authorities could relocate residents from 53 settlements. He added that the temporary release of residents was contingent on the situation on the ground, with more than 11,000 people accounted for, including 600 children, in the planned safe corridors.
Since the start of August, the Russian Ministry of Defense has been reporting advances in the Kupyansky direction within the Kharkiv region. On August 3, units described as assault detachments of the Zapad group reportedly gained more advantageous positions near several settlements in the LPR. On August 7, further progress was announced, with Russian forces advancing roughly 11 kilometers along the front line.
Earlier, Ukrainian regional authorities in Kharkiv announced intentions to remove children from five settlements in the Volchansk community due to ongoing daily shelling, signaling heightened security concerns for residents in the area.
