This European Artificial Intelligence Forum for Health aims to accelerate disruption by blending entrepreneurial, research, and technical talent to create solutions that elevate well-being.
The European startup competition invites applicants with a September 6 deadline through the Encuentros NOW platform. In addition to the main forum prize, several leading international organizations are partnering to present additional awards that recognize outstanding work and broaden opportunities for breakthrough health technology solutions.
The top award, the European AI Forum Award for health, well-being, and inclusion, will receive wide visibility across major Iberian media networks, including prominent outlets in Spain and the broader regional press ecosystem. This coverage helps ensure the winning project reaches audiences across diverse sectors, from health professionals to policy makers and investors.
A Special Award from the Artificial Intelligence Institute may accompany the competition, offering a scholarship to complete a renowned master’s degree, valued at eight thousand euros. This prize reflects IIA’s commitment to developing professional AI leadership that can translate research into scalable, real-world impact.
Another Special Award provides finalists with a pathway into accelerator programs managed by industry leaders. Javier Jimenez, the General Manager of Lanzadera, leads this initiative to support promising startups through structured mentorship, investment readiness, and access to an extensive business ecosystem.
A further Special Award from the SHA Health Clinic recognizes talent that aligns with the clinic’s mission of advancing health and well-being. The prize includes cash funding and an opportunity to pilot and validate the project at SHA’s facilities, with potential expansion to future clinics in Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
An additional prize, the Special Energy System Award, will recognize innovative approaches in energy systems with a cash prize of one thousand euros, underscoring the intersection of energy technology and health outcomes in the broad AI health landscape.
The entrepreneurial challenge forms a key part of an engaging program at the European Artificial Intelligence Forum Alicante 2022, themed around innovation, research, and entrepreneurship for health, well-being, and broad participation. This event is linked with the ELLIS Doctoral Symposium, a globally recognized AI forum introduced by a major press network and international research organizations, marking a first-time gathering in Spain to spotlight AI-driven health innovation.
Andrés Torrubia, a co-founder of the Artificial Intelligence Institute, notes that the competition’s finalists may receive an additional prize: one seat in the fifth edition of the Executive Master in AI. The aim is to foster professional development and help individuals leverage AI to create new business models and advance research initiatives. This emphasis on education aligns with the forum’s broader goal of building a robust talent pipeline in AI for health.
Alfredo Bataller explains that SHA’s mission centers on delivering meaningful, lasting improvements in health and well-being. By integrating empirical nutrition and traditional remedies with cutting-edge medical science, and now leveraging AI, SHA aims to enhance patient outcomes. The collaboration with the Forum focuses on rewarding projects that use AI to advance health and well-being for diverse populations.
Xavier Jimenez describes ongoing alignment with the European Forum’s goals of recognizing and supporting entrepreneurial talent that uses artificial intelligence to improve health outcomes. Depending on a project’s maturity, investment opportunities could range from fifty thousand to five hundred thousand euros, with additional support through incubation or acceleration programs and ecosystem resources.
Julio Energy System emphasizes a call to support and assist budding ventures that aim to improve societal well-being and happiness. He highlights the Forum’s role in empowering these projects through recognition and direct investment, with AI playing a pivotal role in addressing health challenges.
