A National Police operation in Estepona, Malaga, began on May 5 after a guardian reported concerns about inappropriate contact between a local reinforcement class teacher and a student. By May 9, investigators had already identified serious allegations against a 61-year-old man who taught in private settings within the town and who is alleged to have touched minors. The case originated from a complaint lodged by a family member tied to one of the potential victims, sparking an inquiry into possible abuse in the home tutoring environment. The authorities emphasize that the incident stemmed from a family report about sexual contact with a minor in private areas during tutoring sessions.
To date, officials have confirmed four victims, though investigators believe the number of affected youths could be higher. The suspect has no known teaching qualifications and no prior criminal record, yet he has been providing support classes since at least 1999, according to a statement from the National Police. This points to a long period during which vulnerable youths may have been exposed to improper conduct in a tutoring context.
The operation was carried out by agents from the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM) of the Estepona Police Station. It began when the guardian of an elementary student came forward to report that the student had been touched by the reinforcement class teacher during private lessons. The case prompted a rapid response to identify witnesses and potential additional victims, with investigators pursuing multiple lines of inquiry to establish the scope of the alleged abuse.
Intrusive images involving minors
As the investigation progressed, authorities located three additional victims. Among them is a young man from Estepona who is now of legal age. He has been traveling from abroad to Spain, where he currently resides, and is expected to provide testimony as the aggrieved party in future proceedings. Law enforcement recovered electronic materials from the suspect’s residence, including a laptop, three hard drives, and a mobile phone, during a voluntary entry and search procedure. The ongoing inquiry addresses allegations related to sexual assault experienced by a young man when he was approximately 14 years old.
Investigators note that the accused sometimes conducted private lessons for small groups of children, creating opportunities for circumstances in which he could approach minors alone and without immediate supervision. This pattern is a focal point of the case as authorities work to determine the extent of any inappropriate contact or exploitation that may have occurred.
Following the home search, the Estepona Investigation Court was involved in the process, and the suspect was in custody as the proceedings progressed. The investigation continues as authorities assess additional evidence and identify further potential victims who may be linked to these tutoring sessions. The case underscores the importance of safeguarding measures in private educational settings and the need for vigilant reporting when concerns arise in tutoring relationships.
