Erum Group, through its subsidiary PF Erum Vial, successfully completed the final set of tests confirming the accuracy of its signal cone when connected to the DGT3.0 platform. This milestone, reported by Alcoyan, marks a pivotal step toward commercializing security elements designed to enhance road safety and information delivery to road users.

In this validation, the PF Cone demonstrated its capacity to verify and report its precise location along roadworks. The system provides detailed data to the platform, enabling real-time warnings to field users about work zones via road signs or vehicle warning systems.

Several months prior, Alcoyan conducted road trials on the Reguerón motorway in Murcia to confirm the device’s geographic positioning and ensure reliable reception at the control centers. These tests involved collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) and the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) through the DGT 3.0 platform.

For the second round of testing, the aim was to prove the device’s ability to locate itself with high precision in dense urban environments. The field work took place on city streets under the Sandbox program, conducted in cooperation with the City Council and the Local Police. Erum reported a resounding success, achieving centimeter-level positioning accuracy. This precision allowed the cone to signal and inform drivers about works and street closures while remaining visible to nearby workers and motorists.

During the trials, numerous cones were deployed along the Reguerón highway in Murcia, gathering data and validating the system’s reliability in active traffic conditions. The overall results reinforced confidence in the cone’s performance and its potential for scalable deployment in urban and rural road networks.

Following the conclusive assessment confirming the product’s seamless integration with the DGT 3.0 platform for commercialization, the Erum Vial connected cone is now available to protection and maintenance companies, city councils, and other organizations that require accurate geo-location of road events or the ability to notify control centers in real time.

Mechanism

Once deployed, the cone communicates its position through the NBioT DGT 3.0 platform, enhancing worker safety by providing immediate alerts to drivers in the vicinity of works and informing those on the road who may encounter the device. The real-time data also offers visibility into the exact location of roadworks, improving the management and timing of roadblock operations.

There is a growing adoption of this signaling approach, with multiple test deployments illustrating how the system supports safer work zones and more efficient traffic management. The ability to monitor events spatially allows authorities to coordinate responses and allocate resources more effectively.

Erum expands its business field and joins the road signaling sector

One of the standout products presented at Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the PF CONE connected cone, which includes an emergency beacon and position or speed data to assist crews on the move. The device has been tested for additional functionalities such as enhanced geolocation and environmental monitoring, including greenhouse gas emission measurements. The cones are equipped with long-lasting batteries and certified for durability and waterproofing to ensure reliable operation in challenging conditions.
