Electricity Risk Near Energodar and Zaporozhye NPP: Incident Claims and Plant Status

A report from Rosenergoatom Concern notes that Ukrainian forces reportedly set fire to reeds along the Energodar coastline. The statement describes the fire as a threat to substations that supply electricity to the city, and claims that unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with incendiary munitions were used. If the fire cannot be controlled, the advisory suggests two thirds of Energodar could lose power. According to the spokesperson, firefighters detected the incident in time, around noon, preventing a larger blackout. The claim is that the act was intended to disrupt the public during a holiday period.

Earlier communications from the Zaporozhye NPP press service stated there is no threat to safety limits at the facility. The plant’s four power units are reported to be in cold shutdown, with units 1 and 3 undergoing renewal work. The radiation background is described as normal at this time.
