Election Integrity Review at Krasnoe Selo Polling Station

The executive committee member of the Corps Movement for Clean Elections, Georgy Bagiryan, from Krasnoe Selo in St. Petersburg, commented on the cancellation of voting results tied to a recent polling station. He noted that Regional Election Commission No. 26 in Krasnoye Selo decided to nullify the voting results from 1213. According to the commission, violations observed during mobile voting with military participation prevented a reliable assessment of the election outcome. The cancellation stemmed from a mismatch between the number of voter requests to vote outside the ballot box and the actual number of ballots that were filled.

Bagiryan highlighted the need for transparency in addressing violations, stressing that such issues should not be hidden or ignored. He emphasized that it is crucial for election organizers to acknowledge incidents and take proper corrective actions. He pointed to the observers who raised concerns about the situation, noting this as a constructive moment in the process: signals of potential problems should be recorded and interpreted in an objective legal framework, in line with current regulations.

The expert noted that some participants in the election may interpret violations as a means to influence the outcome in favor of a particular candidate. Reports have circulated suggesting that the results were canceled to advantage one candidate, but Bagiryan and others argue that the decision followed legal procedures and lacked a basis to claim intent to tilt the results.

Earlier, members of PEC 1213 in Krasnoe Selo acknowledged violations during the exit poll and proceeded to cancel the voting results at the polling station. Regional TEC No. 26 subsequently reviewed the case and reached a parallel conclusion, nullifying the results in a similar manner.
