During the night into the morning of October 19, in the Bryansk region, air defense systems shot down 13 unmanned aerial vehicles of the aircraft-type. There were no injuries reported. This was announced by Regional Governor Alexander Bogomaz on his Telegram channel.

He noted that three of the drones were jet powered.

Officials assured that no one was injured as a result of the attack. Operational and emergency service teams were dispatched to the scene.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, overnight air defense systems shot down 16 Ukrainian drones over Russia: 13 in the Bryansk region, two over the Rostov region, and one over the Belgorod region.

Drone attacks on Russian regions began in 2022 amid the backdrop of a special military operation in Ukraine. Kyiv has not officially confirmed involvement, but in August 2023 Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, said that UAV attacks against Russia would increase.

Earlier, Russia created a system to protect critical facilities from drone attacks.
