The Palma authorities arrested a 38-year-old man of Hispanic origin in connection with a case of domestic violence, harassment, and threats within a recent relationship. The suspect is accused of targeting his former partner, with whom he had maintained a prolonged romantic involvement, by using persistent communication and intimidating behavior. According to the investigation, he contacted her repeatedly, reportedly making more than a thousand phone calls in a single day, and he allegedly harassed her at her workplace and at her family home. This pattern of stalking and pressure created a climate of fear and instability for the victim and her relatives.
The troubling sequence came to light on October 19, when the victim reported the behavior to local police. She described a long-term romantic relationship that ended, after which the harassment escalated dramatically. The victim said she received an overwhelming number of calls in a single day and that the stalker attempted to surprise her by showing up at places she frequented, including her place of work and her parents’ residence. Such actions contributed to a growing sense of danger and violation of personal boundaries.
In a concerning incident that same morning, the suspect allegedly intercepted the victim near an alley and engaged in a confrontation. The individual was observed in a vehicle approaching the victim in a deliberate, confrontational manner, blocking her path at a pedestrian crossing and following her as she moved in the opposite direction. The suspect then exited the vehicle and pursued the victim on foot, managing to catch up with her, attempting to restrain her by pulling at clothing and belongings, which led to a heated exchange between them.
During the confrontation, the perpetrator is said to have threatened the victim, proclaiming that he could disturb her family at will and even set fire to their home while they were inside. Such threats, if accurate, reveal a dangerous intent to cause serious harm and further intimidation, contributing to the victim’s ongoing fear for her safety and that of her loved ones.
Later that same day, law enforcement reported further alarming actions by the suspect. He allegedly visited the victim’s family home carrying a can of paint and used it to strike the main door, an act observed by the victim’s mother who spotted the incident from a window. The confrontation left the victim distressed, with visible signs of distress and concern for the well-being of her family. The victim also reported witnessing the suspect handling a solvent, which added to the alarm surrounding the incident.
By the end of the day, the victim continued to endure a high frequency of phone calls, with an estimated four calls per minute still arriving. In response to these events and the ongoing risk to the victim and her household, investigators moved to arrest the man on the 21st, charging him with domestic maltreatment and abuse. The case underscores the persistent danger posed by domestic violence and the importance of timely police intervention to protect individuals during such crises.
