Forensic investigators visited the Ministry of Finance’s General Directorate of Information Technologies to access the servers of the Ministry responsible for Equality and Inclusive Policies. Their objective was to obtain information relevant to a case involving the treatment of sixteen officials connected to the department led by Mónica Oltra and the Niño Jesús center, in relation to a complaint filed by a minor who experienced harassment from a monitor, who was married to the former vice president.
The operation followed a court order issued by the 15th Investigation Court of Valencia, enabling the review of emails belonging to the former deputy chief, the chief of staff, and the regional director of Equality and Children on the date of October 26. The search also encompassed several lower-ranking officials and two employees of the Niño Jesús Child Adoption Center, where the alleged abuses occurred.
Copying the emails proved to be a meticulous task, with multiple sources confirming to journalists that the process began in the morning and extended through Friday afternoon.
Judicial Police officers were authorized by the Court of Investigation 15 to conduct a scan of emails modified by sixteen defendants between February 20, 2017, and March 23, 2017, and again from July 2017 to December 1, 2017.
The search was limited to emails within those dates that referenced the abused minor’s file or actions connected to the filed complaint. The court also noted that a ruling has yet to be issued by the Supreme Court regarding an appeal presented by observer Luis Ramírez Icardi.
The dates specified by the head of the Court of Investigation mark the first period when the minor reported the events to their inner circle and to the Niño Jesús Center (February 20 to March 23, 2017). At that time, the bureau had not been informed, although a Juvenile Prosecutor from the Equality Department was involved as a technician. The minor had chosen not to report to the Police minor group initially, fearing disbelief.
The second period runs from July 5 to December 1, 2017, when the Police informed the Minors Prosecutor and the Equality Department opened a file on the incidents and issued a sentence. The Valencia Audiencia’s second segment is described as non-judgmental and was created to challenge the minor’s credibility.
The information obtained by the Forensic Police is intended to be scanned in accordance with the dates and topics allowed by the court. After the relevant emails are identified, they will be placed in a restricted and confidential room, accessible only to the President of the Investigation Court and the attached Prosecutor. This setup ensures that sensitive information is handled within a controlled environment while the legal process advances.
