One of the people detained in connection with the Friday attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Moscow reportedly confessed that they were promised 500,000 rubles, about 5,000 euros. In the attack, 133 people lost their lives.
“Half a million rubles”, says one of the detainees in a recording of the interrogation released by Channel One, the Russian television network. “Who gave it to you?” asks one of the interrogators. “I haven’t received it yet. I have received half of it”, he explains. The money was sent via a bank transfer to a bank card.
Detentions followed a joint operation conducted by the FSB and fighters from the Chechen Ajmat regiment, as announced shortly afterward by the Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov. He noted that the operation began around 3:00 a.m. local time and that security forces moved in at that time, coordinating efforts across multiple units.
The vehicle used by the assailants was a white Renault Logan, believed to be the same car that arrived at Crocus City Hall around 8 p.m. on Friday, Moscow time (6 p.m. in Spain).
After the attack, the suspects fled in the same car, exiting onto the Kiev Highway and traveling to the vicinity of Yatsun, approximately 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and the interrogation materials indicate that the operation had been planned for about a month, with the financial proposal extended to those who would carry out the assault.
