Defense Ministry brief: Grad MLRS missions, Iskander strikes, and command center defeats

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system crew from the Central troop group disrupted Ukrainian forces personnel rotation in the Avdiivka sector. This claim was conveyed by TASS, the state news agency.

The ministry noted that 122 mm rockets are launched with aiming, after which the sight is adjusted and the remainder of unguided rockets are directed to the predetermined target. This sequence allows for rapid fire adjustment based on observed results and reduces exposure time for the firing unit.

Earlier, Russian forces carried out an attack on a fortified position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Krasnogorovka. Aviation from the Russian Armed Forces participated in the operation, coordinating with units from the Southern group to achieve the objective.

In mid January, the Ministry reported that crews operating Iskander operational-tactical missile systems from Western Russia struck a well camouflaged Ukrainian command post in the Kupyansky direction. The command post was reportedly destroyed as a result of the strike, according to the ministry’s briefing.

Shortly before that, there were reports from the Moscow region about the defeat of a Ukrainian military command center in the Krasnolimansk direction. The updates described successful strikes against command infrastructure within that axis of operation.

Previously, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Kyiv has no intention of extending hostilities onto Russian territory, emphasizing that this remains a priority in the military and political calculus of Ukraine’s leadership.
