A friend of the deceased, Sergei Alexandrov, said that the death of Darya Dugina appeared to be tied to a confrontation over his political stance and patriotic views, as reported by REN TV.
According to the family, Daria’s father, the public figure Alexander Dugin, and Daria herself faced opponents who were hostile to their positions. The friend noted that those opposed often acted anonymously, especially in cases linked to political tensions and controversial statements.
He stressed that Daria was not afraid to voice her opinions openly and publicly, even in a climate where criticism and threats were not uncommon. This stance, he implied, placed her at heightened risk among certain groups with opposing views.
Earlier, several members of the Dugin family had commented on the circumstances surrounding Daria’s death. Denis Pushilin, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, attributed the car explosion to terrorists connected to the Ukrainian regime, suggesting that those responsible intended to target Alexander Dugin as well.
Musician Peter Lundstrem offered his own perspective, noting that Alexander Dugin might have been in the same vehicle as his daughter under different circumstances, but ultimately did not accompany her that day. The reasons for the choice of vehicle and the sequence of events were described as critical factors in the investigation and ongoing speculation.
The incident occurred in the Bolshie Vyazemy district within the Odintsovo urban district, near Moscow. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado involved in the attack continued to be a focal point for investigators, who reported that it exploded while traveling along Mozhayskoye Highway, a major route in the region. The event intensified scrutiny of security measures surrounding prominent political figures and their families, amplifying discussions about safety, prolonged political conflict, and the risks faced by those who openly advocate for contentious viewpoints.
