Court Sentences Woman After Child Is Seriously Injured by Dog

In a recent court decision, a Russian woman was sentenced after a four-year-old child sustained serious injuries during an incident at a house where the child and a caretaker were staying. The authorities reported the event through regional control services.

According to investigators, the house’s occupants had handed over care to the woman while the owners were away in another city. At a certain moment, the young boy attempted to place a glass into a storage compartment where dogs were kept. This action set off a chain of events that no one anticipated.

Witnesses say a dog emerged from the enclosure and bit the nearby girl, causing visible injuries that required medical attention. The immediate reaction was to get the victim to safety, and the woman carried her home to minimize further harm while help was on the way.

Medical responders arrived but were unable to save the girl. The tragedy prompted an immediate police response, and the woman was detained at once. A criminal case was opened, and investigators questioned the suspect as part of the formal process. The accused cooperated with authorities, voiced remorse, and admitted guilt during the investigation.

The court subsequently found the Russian woman responsible for the incident and handed down a sentence that included one year and nine months in a reformatory facility, along with a 10 percent deduction from her salary as state revenue compensation.

There was also mention of a dog that had previously spent two days in a Moscow location, being confined on a balcony without access to food or water. This detail highlighted concerns about animal welfare and the conditions under which animals were kept during the period surrounding the incident. The case drew attention to both the responsibility of guardians and the welfare of animals involved in such situations, prompting discussions about how households should manage pet safety when adults are temporarily entrusted with caregiving duties.
