The Orsk Soviet District Court in the Orenburg region ruled that the school must compensate a first-year student for injuries sustained in the institution’s yard. This outcome was confirmed by the court’s press office.

The incident occurred in the winter of 2023, when the schoolgirl slipped on ice in the schoolyard and needed hospital treatment. As a result of the fall, the student sustained a broken forearm.

An internal audit identified the supply manager and the janitor as responsible for the incident, noting they had neglected to clear the yard of snow and ice.

The girl faced a prolonged recovery, during which she required assistance with daily tasks such as dressing and self-care. Her mother, who pursued the lawsuit on her behalf, accompanied her to every court appearance and remained involved throughout the process.

As a result, the court partially granted the family’s claim, ordering the school to pay 100,000 rubles to the girl. In addition, the school must compensate the girl’s mother with 30,000 rubles and cover legal costs associated with the case, as reported by the court.

A comparable settlement was seen in Vologda Oblast, where a child received 300,000 rubles after falling from a swing.
