A Civil Guard operation in Murcia led to the detention of a 43-year-old man who posed as a sports physiotherapist and is accused of sexually abusing a minor. Authorities say the suspect is also charged with professional trespassing and other related offenses involving minors under 16.
The case emerged after a father reported to the Murcia Civil Guard that his son was at a sporting event when the man, presenting himself as a youth sports physiotherapist, offered to provide assistance. The incident reportedly occurred under the guise of promoting a local academy, during which the man requested a private therapy session for the athlete.
According to the account, the man invited the minor to a locker room under the pretense of taking promotional photographs for the academy. Once inside, the suspect allegedly undressed the boy, conducted inappropriate physical contact, and sexually abused him while attempting to record the act with a phone concealed in a backpack.
The father attempted to intervene after becoming aware of the situation, but the individual fled his premises. Investigators later traced the suspect through social media profiles where he advertised himself as a physiotherapist without any verified credentials.
Civil Guard sources indicate that after learning of similar incidents at other sporting events, parents expressed concern about the suspect’s conduct toward young athletes and the potential threat to other children.
Following the ongoing inquiry, authorities presented the case to the judiciary, which issued a detention order. Searches were conducted at the man’s address in Alicante, where agents recovered a mobile phone, several computers, and various digital storage devices. Forensic analysts from the Civil Guard’s New Technologies Department examined the material to gather further evidence.
