Carrefour marks the tenth edition of its Innovation Awards, a benchmark in the consumer goods sector. The retailer tops the latest Radar de la Innovación report from Kantar and Promarca, showing it leads innovation by featuring 61% of the innovations in the market. This year 170 companies submitted entries, a 30% increase from the previous edition, which had 318 products and represented an 18% rise from 2023.

Among the winners this year, Chocolates Valor stood out, the Alicante-based company located in La Vila Joiosa. It also earned the Químicas Oro award for the Valencian firm Químicas Oro, based in San Antonio de Benagéber.

With these honors, Carrefour recognizes the firms that offer the most novel products in Spain’s consumer sector and rewards launches that align with evolving consumer expectations. The Innovation Awards ceremony took place in Madrid, drawing more than 350 executives and business leaders from Spain’s diverse consumer landscape.

Elodie Perthuisot, Carrefour Spain’s executive director, underscored that innovation serves as a key differentiator for the company. Alongside digital transformation, it forms a core growth pillar. Carrefour is committed to promoting and highlighting innovation for its suppliers, manufacturers, and customers.

Jorge Ybarra Loring, Carrefour Spain’s commercial director, stated that the annual prize presentation reflects Carrefour’s innovative character, central to its commercial strategy. The aim is to ensure the best possible product range for customers and to reinforce support for Spain’s agri-food sector.

Direct selection by more than 30,000 customers

Carrefour engaged more than 30,000 customers to vote for the finalists of this tenth edition. Products are organized across 14 categories, with emphasis on organic items, pet care, baby products, yogurts, desserts, and dairy among others.

Next, customer-chosen products are assessed by an external jury composed of researchers, business professionals, academics, and cultural sector experts. This jury determines the winning companies.

In addition to the 14 awards, a special mention was given to the Galician company Quival-El Nogal as the Most Innovative SME of 2024.
