First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs Nadia Calviño spoke in September about the government’s plan to introduce further steps to deepen savings and energy efficiency. These moves would align with the rest of Europe as the country seeks to strengthen its energy posture.
Calviño said in an interview with Cadena SER on a Tuesday that additional measures were already announced and approved by the cabinet. If the current steps prove insufficient, more actions would be taken to boost energy autonomy and create a reserve for Europe as a whole.
On the risk of a recession, Calviño noted that preparation is essential while maintaining hope that the worst will be avoided. She described a moment of very high uncertainty where outcomes depend on the progression of the war and changes in energy and food resources.
She summed up the challenge with a simple metaphor about navigating a difficult route, emphasizing the need to stay focused and keep a steady course through the coming period.
