Calpe Civil Guard Intercepts Suspects in Safe Trade Operation

In the Calpe Investigation Area, officers from the Civil Guard were actively implementing the Safe Trade Plan as part of their ongoing crime prevention initiatives. Their routine patrols near the town’s tourist magnets and commercial zones culminated in a careful observation of two individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior near a busy commercial area.

As the pair moved toward a nearby store, their awareness of the inspectors’ presence triggered a hurried attempt to distance themselves from the vehicle. The adults—a man and a woman—were identified as Lithuanian nationals, aged fifty three and sixty three. They lived in Torrevieja and carried records that indicated involvement in property-related offenses across various settings.

When the Civil Guard officers approached the car, they found a substantial amount of high-end food products concealed in the trunk. The couple could not explain the origin of the merchandise or provide satisfactory proof of its provenance. This prompted a sequence of checks and inquiries, through which the investigators were able to trace the stolen items back to a supermarket that had been burglarized.

The suspects were escorted to the Civil Guard offices in Calpe, where they were formally charged with theft. The value of the stolen goods was estimated at approximately five hundred euros. A Court of Inquiry in Denia was notified of the incident, and the offenders remained in custody as the case proceeded toward trial.

Additionally, at the request of the business owner, authorities coordinated the voluntary recovery of donated food items destined for charitable distribution across the Alicante province, highlighting a community-centered aspect of the investigation and response.
