Civil Guard officers freed a man who had been kidnapped in a residence in Calpe. The abductors had demanded a ransom of 100,000 euros. The Police Command stated that the hostage crisis would end within two days if their demands were not met. Local sources indicated that the individuals involved and the victim were Albanian nationals and that the kidnapping might have been tied to a prior murder. The perpetrators reportedly sought repayment of a failed investment after being deceived by a third party. The five people detained were later released with precautionary measures after appearing before the court in Dénia.
The operation was named “Ejani.” Civil Guard officers freed a 24-year-old man who had been held for two days in a dwelling in the old town of Calpe. The kidnappers had contacted the victim’s partner via video call, pressing for a ransom and threatening to take the hostage’s life if the demand was not met.
The investigation began after authorities received information about a possible kidnapping and the ransom demand. The partner reported receiving a video call from the captors as proof that the victim was in their custody. Based on collected evidence, officials confirmed the hostage was held inside a residence in Calpe.
Given the severity of the threats, officers proceeded to act before the stated deadline. They entered the residence and found the victim safe. The location was described as a house in Calpe and was reported to be in good condition during the operation.
Security teams conducted searches of the home and apprehended three of the suspects along with several blades used to intimidate the victim. Two other perpetrators were arrested nearby, with one hiding in a van close to the residence.
The detainees facing kidnapping charges were forwarded to the courthouse in Dénia. The Instruction Court No. 2 decided to release the individuals on precautionary measures pending further proceedings.
