The Bryansk Sovetsky District Court has placed Dmitry Afanaskin, father of the schoolgirl who opened fire at a local gymnasium, in custody for a period of two months. This information comes from a report by TASS.

The court announced the preventive measure as detention for two months, stating that this is necessary to ensure investigations proceed without interference.

Earlier on December 10, the Sovetsky District Court decided to place another individual, the deputy director of administrative and economic affairs at gym number 5 in Bryansk, under house arrest.

On the eve of the trial, Afanaskin was kept in custody for up to 72 hours as part of the ongoing procedural steps.

A second criminal case has been opened against Afanaskin. It concerns allegations that he played a role in prompting his underage daughter to attempt suicide. Additionally, authorities filed charges related to negligent storage of a weapon. The girl allegedly stole a Bekas-3 hunting rifle, used it at school, and killed two people, including herself.

Earlier updates indicated that a bill addressing school bullying would be discussed in the State Duma before year’s end.
