National Police officers in Torrevieja detained a British fugitive who was wanted by the United Kingdom for the murder of his partner in 1990. The man had disappeared in 2015 after being released on parole and carried a standing search and arrest warrant tied to a premeditated murder case. The case continues to unfold as authorities pursue extradition from Spain to the UK.

The fugitive employed multiple identities to elude detection and did not have a fixed address in Spain. He reportedly lived in several residences owned or occupied by elderly British women who were described as having addiction issues or cognitive impairments and who provided him financial support according to investigators.

The investigation began in May of the present year when UK authorities informed the National Police through Interpol that a convict wanted for the 1990 murder could be located in Spain. After his parole release in 2015, he disappeared, and his whereabouts remained unknown until his arrest in the coastal town of Torrevieja.

Danger

British authorities conveyed to local police that the fugitive might be in or near Torrevieja and cautioned of potential safety risks to the public and to any witnesses who might come into contact with him.

The evidence collected indicated that the individual under investigation had been living at a residence linked to the couple of British citizens who had recently passed away. He appeared to move around Spain under a series of aliases in order to avoid law enforcement, staying with various British women who faced addiction problems or cognitive difficulties.

Police reports also noted that two vehicle registration plates, provided by British authorities as possible means of transport for the suspect, were identified. Both plates were found abandoned in Torrevieja as the inquiry progressed.

As the investigation advanced, detectives focused on a suspected current partner whose profile matched a set of identifying features. Authorities were able to locate a British woman whose description aligned with the described partner and began to build a case around her involvement or knowledge of the fugitive’s whereabouts.

Consequently, at the end of the previous November, officers proceeded to the residence of the suspect’s alleged partner in a Torrevieja urbanization. A surveillance setup was established, and when the person associated with the fugitive exited the home, officers detained him and prepared for extradition back to the United Kingdom.
