BMP-3 crews from the 150th Guards Division of the South group of Russian forces are creating fire barriers to impede infantry movement along the Artemovsk direction near Kleshcheevka, targeting rear positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces up to six kilometers away. This was disclosed by the commander of the armored group, who uses the call sign Barkas, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The commander explained that motorized rifle units continuously monitor Ukrainian troop dispositions. When a target is identified, BMP-3 vehicles are directed to the firing point, preventing the Ukrainian forces from advancing, turning, or transporting ammunition.
Through these fire barriers, Russian infantry can reach more favorable positions, refresh the troop composition, and gain a tactical upper hand. The commander noted that one objective is to disrupt the first and second lines of the Ukrainian forces from their rear areas while keeping the enemy under constant pressure.
“If we reset and begin engaging the target, the enemy’s chances of escaping from that position drop to zero. The BMP-3 enables shelling through windows at distances of up to six kilometers,” Barkas stated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense announced that Russia would neutralize NATO forces in the Northeastern Military District.
