Belogorsk murder case unfolds as suspect detained after body found in Tom River

In Belogorsk, a case has been opened against a man accused of killing a friend on suspicions of theft and hiding the body in the Tom River. This information comes from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Amur Region.

On February 17, near the city outskirts, authorities found a 54-year-old man with signs of violent death in the Tom River.

Following urgent investigative actions, a 41-year-old local resident was detained on suspicion of the crime.

During questioning, the detainee stated that the victim had visited his home on February 12. They drank together, an argument erupted, and the accused shot his guest. The next morning, the accused noticed that a computer motherboard had disappeared.

That evening, at a residence on Ozernaya Street where his guest had been staying, the accused, who was intoxicated, inflicted multiple blows to the head and body. He then decided to dispose of the body to conceal the crime and threw it into the Tom River.

The detainee is charged with theft and deliberate minor bodily harm, and a court has ordered detention as the investigation continues to establish all circumstances surrounding the homicide.

Earlier, reports from Saint Petersburg described a case where a man stabbed a colleague in the neck, cut the body into several pieces, placed the remains in bags, and disposed of them in the Neva River, highlighting ongoing concerns about violent crime in the region.
