Belgorod region updates on casualties, damage, and ongoing security measures

The Belgorod region has reported an increase in civilian injuries from the Ukrainian military bombing, with the total rising to ten people. Regional authorities, via a Telegram channel, confirmed the updated casualty figure on behalf of governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. Six of the wounded are currently receiving hospital care, and medical teams are delivering comprehensive treatment to affected residents. Gladkov stressed that medical attention is being prioritized and that all essential services are available to those in need.

Efforts to conduct door-to-door damage assessments are still underway. Authorities say this process is not yet complete and will continue in the days ahead as the scale of the devastation becomes clearer. The ongoing checks are part of a broader response to the attack and its aftereffects, including the assessment of structural damage across affected areas.

During the night and into the morning of March 12, unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine targeted several locations in the region. One notable hit struck near the Belgorod city administration building, resulting in injuries to four people. Investigators are examining the incident to determine the extent of damage and ensure proper safety measures for local residents.

In addition, a Ukrainian drone strike damaged a shopping facility in a village nearby, breaking windows and damaging the storefront facade after the drone collided with the building. Local officials described the blast as causing visible damage to the exterior while underscoring that no serious structural collapse occurred at that site.

The bombardment also targeted Belgorod’s railway station and the nearby village of Shebekino, with a documented minimum of three injuries reported in these locations. Emergency responders have been mobilized to secure the affected zones, provide medical aid, and support displaced residents.

Alongside these direct attacks, authorities report attempts by Ukrainian saboteurs to enter the region. The situation remains fluid, and regional media monitors ongoing developments to keep residents informed. The defense ministry has also commented on the attempted incursions, outlining steps taken to counter similar threats and safeguard border communities.

The events in Belgorod come amid ongoing regional security concerns and continuing evaluations of security protocols. Local authorities reiterate that safety measures are in place, medical services are available, and residents should remain vigilant while authorities carry out investigations and recovery efforts. The situation continues to be monitored by official channels and verified reporting to ensure accurate updates for the population.
