The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported a failed attempt to strike Russian facilities with a drone that was shot down by air defense forces over the Belgorod region in the Kiev area. The incident took place on August 28, around 23:00 Moscow time. Earlier, near 21:00 Moscow time, the ministry announced the destruction of a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle on Russian soil in Belgorod.

In August, the drone threat appeared near local schools in Belgorod, and officials noted ongoing armored activity in the region. The operational headquarters decided to keep educational institutions outside the 20 kilometer border zone open for full-time and mixed formats of study.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated on his Telegram channel that the Belgorod region registered 115 arrivals in a single day. He added that mortar and grenade launcher fire targeted the Shebekino checkpoint in the Shebekinsky urban district, with 13 mortar shells hitting the Bondarenkov farm.

Oksana Kozlitina, the Minister of Construction for the Belgorod Region, said that repairing social facilities in Belgorod would require nearly 5 billion rubles.
