Belarus Reports Ongoing Border Provocations and Refugee Management at Ukraine Border

The Belarusian State Border Committee has reported ongoing provocations at the border from Ukraine. The information appears on a telegraph channel associated with Board, which has been cited in several updates.

The latest incident is described as taking place at the Poddobryanka checkpoint, which operates in a simplified mode. According to the report, soldiers from the neighboring state allegedly pointed their weapons at Belarusian border guards.

The Belarusian border agency stated that border control units responded with prudence and did not yield to provocation. It noted that, in collaboration with the Ministry of Emergencies and the Red Cross, necessary arrangements were made at the border to receive, heat, and guide Ukrainian refugees through the checkpoint.

There were accounts of gunfire heard intermittently in the neighboring territory, described as single shots and bursts.

A Belarusian official from the border control department indicated that heavy machinery activity was audible in the region. He also mentioned that an anti-tank ditch, estimated at up to three meters deep and three to four meters wide, was reportedly dug on the other side of the border.

The border service representative added that heightened attention is being paid to airspace monitoring and the approach routes to checkpoints to ensure security and orderly processing of arrivals.

In a broader context, the Belarusian Border Committee has previously coordinated with adjacent states that share borders with Belarus, including Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, to manage and respond to increases in cross-border traffic and queue buildup as people move toward Europe.
