Antigel is a preventive additive designed to be poured into the diesel fuel tank before it reaches freezing temperatures. It lowers the fuel’s freezing point just enough to keep diesel flowing smoothly in cold weather.
Antigel should be added before the fuel freezes. The standard guidance is to use it with every tank fill during frost-prone periods. In extreme cold or when travel is toward the northern or eastern regions, you can safely increase the concentration to maintain optimal fuel performance.
Defroster is a treatment that helps dissolve paraffin crystals that can clog the fuel system in very cold conditions. It should be used as part of a winter fuel care routine.
Pouring defroster into the tank alone may not be sufficient. It is recommended to access the fuel filter, introduce the defroster directly into the filter housing, and then pump the fuel through the system by hand if a manual pump is available. This ensures the additive reaches the fuel lines where it can do its work most effectively.
