The Barcelona Public Prosecutor’s Office is seeking an 18-year prison sentence for a man from Vilanova i la Geltrú, Garraf, identified as Domingo CT. The allegations date to between September and December 2017, when he allegedly invited two children under guardianship to his home in a center for sexual abuse in exchange for money, food, alcohol, and shelter. During the initial session of the case, one of the alleged victims retracted the accusations, claiming he acted out of anger when the defendant stopped providing financial support.
The hearing, which opened this week in the third section of the Barcelona Court, was adjourned to September 23 due to the lack of a second victim statement, which the court deemed necessary. The prosecutor acknowledged that, in his presence, the complainant admitted to going with the defendant to extract money, but stressed that the arrangements did not involve sex in exchange for payments. The witness previously had engaged in prostitution. He explained, I was hungry, and he offered money. I saw a chance to get money from him. I regret it.
Nevertheless, a friend of the complainant, unlike the partner, corroborated the accusatory account and indicated that Domingo CT never entered the friend’s apartment. Instead, the friend stated that other associates accepted money to engage in sexual activity with those involved, and that drugs and alcohol were offered. This version aligns with details provided by a social educator from the children’s center where some of the girls reside and where several teachers are involved.
The witness reported that the young woman under supervision confessed to him that she had sexual relations with the defendant in exchange for money because she was only 15 years old, and she had brought other friends home so they could likewise receive financial compensation for sexual acts. According to the account, the defendant sought girls aged 9 to 10 to bring to his home, a request she consistently refused.
Social Disconnection
In its provisional indictment, the prosecution calls for a total of 18 years in prison for the accused, who has been released on bail. The charges include two counts of sexual abuse, one of them aggravated by exploiting minors, along with eight years of probation and a ban on approaching the victims and their homes. The defense contends that the accused believes the young women were taking advantage of their social uprooting. A 15-year-old girl at the time reportedly visited the suspect’s home on three occasions.
It is alleged that on one visit the defendant offered money after sexual activity, including a pack of tobacco and 100 euros; on another, the initial meeting yielded 30 euros, and nothing happened after that. During a later encounter, the defendant requested a sexual act and the girl reportedly slept at his residence. The following day, she reportedly received 70 euros. The prosecution notes that money and sexual transactions were a recurring theme in these encounters.
The prosecutors detail that the second alleged victim, who was 16 at the time, was 38 percent disabled and visited the defendant’s home on multiple occasions with his partner. The accused allegedly hosted them for drinks, and on subsequent calls offered money for sexual activity. Reports suggest these incidents occurred repeatedly, with the victim sometimes joining others in the sexual arrangements.
