Central Military District Commander Awards Courage and Valor to Russian Soldiers In Ukraine Operarion
Colonel General Alexander Lapin, the head of Russia’s Central Military District, honored Russian troops who demonstrated notable bravery during a special operation in Ukraine. This recognition was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
According to the ministry’s press service, the ceremony included the presentation of the Order of Courage, the Medal for Courage, and the Zhukov Medal to each service member represented on the occasion.
Lapin expressed gratitude as he awarded the state honors, stating that the soldiers’ efforts for the nation deserve warm acknowledgement and praise for their wartime service.
He also pointed out that the actions of these troops have contributed to a meaningful decrease in the combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, underscoring the strategic impact achieved through their operations.
Previously, on February 24, President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to commence a military special operation in Ukraine, citing a request for assistance from the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics as the catalyst for the action.
The deployment of military measures following that decision led to renewed sanctions from the United States and allied nations, reflecting the broader geopolitical stakes involved in the conflict.
Media outlets have reported on these events, detailing how trophies and rewards are distributed within the armed forces as demonstrations of recognition for acts of valor and professional conduct under fire.
Former Air Force Commander Andrey Serdyukov was also noted for delivering awards to paratroopers who distinguished themselves during the Ukrainian operation, highlighting the ongoing process of recognizing exemplary service across branches of the military.
