In the early hours of Thursday, a violent incident unfolded in the parking area adjacent to a well-known hostess club in Catarroja (Valencia). A man, who later died in hospital, was attacked after a confrontation that began near five in the morning. A screwdriver was used during the assault, and the alleged attacker was subsequently detained.
The confrontation occurred near the Silla track, in a district where club patrons were gathering. The victim, described as approximately 30 years old and of Moroccan origin, was accompanied by a friend and appeared visibly intoxicated. Civil Guard investigators report these details as part of the early documentation of the case.
Two customers of the same establishment, both Armenian by nationality, stepped outside after realizing their car keys were missing. Their presence sparked taunts from two intoxicated individuals. Although the keys were later recovered, the victim and his companion continued to respond to the threats. The investigation notes that the exchange escalated as the intoxicated men persisted in their hostile behavior.
According to statements collected by investigators, the Armenian visitors initially ignored the taunts. Yet after a period, the taunting continued and one of the aggressors approached the pair, delivering punches and kicks. The older assailant, aged 45, drew a screwdriver and plunged it into the skull of the person acting to defend his friend.
The wounded man collapsed and lost consciousness. A SAMU ambulance arrived on the scene to provide stabilization and transport him to La Fe Hospital in Valencia, where doctors reported the patient remained in a very serious condition.
Despite urgent medical efforts, the victim passed away at noon on Thursday due to the craniocerebral injuries sustained in the assault. The body is presently at the Valencian Institute of Forensic Medicine, where an autopsy will be conducted in the coming hours.
Discovery of the weapon at the scene
A Civil Guard patrol from Alfafar arrested the suspected attacker soon after the incident, initially charging him with attempted murder. The detained Armenian national faces a potential murder charge in light of the victim’s death.
Investigators recovered the alleged murder weapon, a screwdriver, near the location of the attack. The Alfafar forensic police team continues to analyze the circumstances surrounding the homicide and has recorded statements from the alleged perpetrator and multiple witnesses. Among those interviewed were two other individuals who had been involved in the dispute outside the Catarroja hostess club.
