Guillermo Rodríguez Godínez, widely known as Arcano or Arkano, stands as Alicante’s most celebrated rapper, praised for his remarkable freestyle talent and quick-witted rhymes. Born in Alicante on October 17, 1994, Arkano emerged on the global freestyle scene at a young age and rapidly became a central figure in Spanish rap. His intelligence, rapid thinking, and ability to address social and personal issues in his verses earned him broad respect and a devoted audience across North America and beyond.
Arkano not only left a lasting mark in rap battles, but also built a track record of championships. He won the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos national championship in Spain and claimed the world title in 2015. Beyond competition, he has become notable for social activism, participating in campaigns against school bullying, supporting sexual diversity, and collaborating with organizations to promote inclusion and respect through his music.
Arkano in Survivors
Arkano is no stranger to radio and television. He has appeared on programs such as La Voz Kids on Antena 3, Typical Spanish on La 1, and more recently MasterChef Celebrity, among others.
Now Arkano returns with a bold new venture that surprises many followers: joining the reality show Survivors. The Telecinco program tests physical and mental endurance in an extreme survival environment, offering a markedly different challenge from the stages and freestyle battles he is known for.
In a promotional video, Arkano shared his mix of excitement and fear: “I couldn’t be more thrilled, yet I’m genuinely scared. I’m a city person, not used to the countryside, insects, or fishing, and I don’t know what will happen.”
He also posted a recent Instagram video showing his preparation for the survival competition. “It’s so good! I’m going to Survivors as if life wasn’t already strange,” he says while running on the beach and performing drills that include dragging a partner through sand as part of the game’s challenges to earn prizes.
Arkano noted that he plans to stay balanced, keep his weight steady, and explore new skills such as rope knot tying. He joked that a YouTube video he has could help him on the island, adding a lighthearted note to his serious prep.
One fear stands out for him: jumping from a helicopter. In this show, contestants reach the island by helicopter, then face the daunting task of leaping into the sea from a significant height. This is a risk many contestants have faced, and injuries have occurred in previous seasons during water landings, making it one of the most demanding tests on the series.
Despite the challenge ahead, there is confidence that Arkano will push through his fears, deliver a strong performance, and possibly seize a major breakthrough in the competition.
