An intense incident unfolded in Aragon when officers from the Supreme Headquarters Citizens’ Security Brigade Police confronted a tense crowd near Zaragoza. About 80 people gathered as the situation started, pressing in close to the police during an attempt to apprehend a fugitive. A bystander urged the fugitive to flee, boasting that the police would not stop him. Despite the hostility, injuries were not reported as the confrontation progressed.

The events occurred on Pintor Stolz street on a Sunday evening around six o’clock. Police sources reported that plainclothes officers were conducting identifications when they noticed a man who was persistently tailing them and signaling to a companion. The man began to run in response to the heightened alert.

A pursuit followed as officers worked to prevent the fugitive from taking any further action. The person who fled was later identified as someone with a criminal history including twenty robberies and an attempted murder, and authorities had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officers identified themselves as law enforcement and instructed him to stop, but he ignored the command. He attempted to slip into a building to hide, and a companion inside opened the door. The initial arrival of officers met resistance as they were pushed and struck by people inside the building. Soon more officers arrived on the scene. An operation referred to as room 091 was activated, leading to the arrest of the defendant JHJ and another individual inside the building who had been trying to shelter the fugitive. Two members of the National Police Service sustained injuries in the clash, and the helper who aided the fugitive was taken into custody near DCB.

Meanwhile, roughly 80 bystanders formed a loose circle around the street. Witnesses captured video on mobile phones, recording the scene and shouting insults at the officers while attempting to intimidate them. The crowd’s behavior created a risk of further escalation, prompting intervention from multiple teams belonging to both the National and Local Police. Their aim was to disperse the riot and restore order before the situation could deteriorate further. The incident continues to be under investigation by the relevant authorities and has been documented by El Periódico de Aragón for regional reporting.
