A Russian reconnaissance hunter from the first corps of the Russian Armed Forces reported that the Ukrainian army has German anti-tank mines equipped with sensors that trigger around infantry and armored vehicles. The claim was circulated by DEA News, citing a participant in the so-called special operation.

According to the source, there were German DM31 mine variants (Panzerabwehrverlegemine DM31). The mine is described as a remote-trigger device with sensor components. The tester stated that if a person detects a high metal content in the device, it can signal for detonation, creating a danger for nearby troops.

The interlocutor noted that the mine designed for use against tanks was developed in Germany and exists in several versions.

The intelligence officer added that some units reportedly indicate changes are needed after the initial deployment, suggesting ongoing adjustments in the field.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to conduct a special military operation in Ukraine, in response to requests for assistance from the leaders of the Luhansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic.

That decision led to new sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies, framed as a response to the action.

Broadcasts of the report were circulated online by various outlets.
