Amid Security Alerts in Crimea, Explosions at Ammunition Depot Subside as Evacuations Continue, Rail Services Resume

The head of the Dzhankoy district administration in Crimea, Inna Fedorenko, announced that the blasts at the ammunition depot near Mayskoye have ended. According to Fedorenko, the shells in the sabotage zone ceased moving, and a follow up meeting is planned for the near term. The information was reported by TASS.

Fedorenko stressed that the artillery rounds stopped within the impacted area. He also indicated that officials will reconvene soon to review the situation and next steps.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed an ammunition warehouse explosion occurred during an operation attributed to Ukrainian special services. Two people sustained injuries as a result of the incident, and more than three thousand residents from the settlements of Maiskoye and Azovskoye were evacuated as a precaution.

Earlier, the rail transport operator GrandServiceExpress announced that train traffic would resume on Crimea’s rail network according to the schedule from 20:30, following the reopening of the railway near Dzhankoy in the northern part of Crimea. The rail line had been shut temporarily due to the sabotage of ammunition depots.
