Almuerzo Solar, the work by Fermín Jiménez Landa, has earned top honors at the eighth Cervezas Alhambra Prize for Emerging Art. Since 2017, this prize has taken place during ARCOmadrid to boost the careers of rising talents from across the country and shine a light on contemporary creation.
The winner, visibly moved, described the prize as crucial support for ongoing work. He noted that this profession is a long-distance pursuit and that the prize brings significant visibility to that effort.
Emma, the guiding philosophy behind the Sin Prisa brand, invites people to invest real time in what truly matters. It emerges from a handcrafted production process reimagined through a modern lens, linking traditional craft with current artistic discourse.
Alicia Ventura, the artistic curator for the prize, emphasized the high quality of this year’s entries. She highlighted that the edition introduced several innovations, including new creative techniques such as hand embroidery, artisanal papers, and raw milk applied in artistic contexts.
Launched by Cervezas Alhambra, this initiative seeks to bridge craft and art. This year the call opened for the first time, drawing more than 140 proposals that embodied that unique know-how and reverence for time.
As explained by Javier Vilar-Sancho, jury member and Marketing Director of Cervezas Alhambra, the Prize began with a clear aim: to propel emerging talent and bring contemporary creation to a broader audience. This year the call was opened widely to invite more artists who feel a strong connection to the world of making and the processes behind it.
Until March 10, ARCO will host the finalists’ works in the Cervezas Alhambra No-Rush Space, alongside a broad program of content that invites visitors to engage with the ongoing exploration of craft and art.
