He introduced himself as the legal guardian, driving her to matches and practice, acting as the legal representative, and handling everything that affected her through him. This describes coach Francisco RT, accused of repeatedly raping a minor for three years, according to sources from Molins de Rei Football Club, where the accused and the victim spent two seasons. Various members of the organization who spoke during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons describe a pattern of isolation that left others unable to see what was happening. The girl left the sport while training in 2016, and later dared to denounce him at CD Fontsanta Fatjó by Cornellà de Llobregat. She continued to train girls at Fontsanta, at least until last May.

The situation was one of complete isolation. A controlled and premeditated drowning allegedly allowed ongoing sexual harassment and assault to proceed without raising alarms. According to the prosecutor’s letter that this newspaper has seen, the harassment began in June 2013, a period when Molins also had a woman’s team in the junior category. In another team, Francisco RT served as coach. It was clear to club resources that he was always aware of what affected her, and everything that involved her had to pass through him.

Both individuals played for Molins de Rei in the same season. In the previous one, he coached at Levante Las Planas from Sant Joan Despí. When Molins signed him, he brought in some players, including a victim. He exploited family vulnerability to avoid arousing suspicion and to carry out the alleged abuses. The players came from Morocco and did not know Spanish. The family authorized him to manage all files and documents related to the young footballer. The control he exercised created a distance between the club and the family. It was noted that he claimed to be the legal guardian of the player, a claim that the Molins club later said they underestimated, never meeting the parents, and describing the treatment as unequal.

Relationship with a club mom

Allegations point to abuses occurring during these two seasons. In the first, he was not yet the coach, but he already controlled every action. In the second, two women in the same age group began reporting directly to him, along with another coach. By securing the family’s full trust and maintaining this false guardian role, the abuses took place outside the club premises, in his car or at his home. There was little doubt about a stable relationship with the mother of two players who trained at the club. Today, board members express fear, saying the daughter is a victim.

After these two seasons, the coach moved to CD Fontsanta Fatjó. He recruited several players, including Kurban, to his new team. The Molins club lost track of him once he stepped onto the Cornellà team’s turf. He stopped playing in 2016 after he dared to speak about the abuses. He kept coaching at Fontsanta until at least last May 2022. The minutes of the Catalan football federation confirm this.

No one from Molins knew what had happened until El Periódico de Catalunya, part of the Prensa Ibérica group, contacted the club. Even the Mossos d’Esquadra did not correct the information during ongoing police investigations. And in Fontsanta, questions arose: how could they hire him as a coach after a report had been made? Many ask this, a question that remains unanswered as managers of the sports club are not accessible for comment.

Since 2015, coaches and anyone working with minors must present proof of a criminal record. It appears that FRT may have a clean file, at least regarding this case, as no firm convictions are on record. However, the contradiction is clear: the alleged rapist continued to train and thus remained in close contact with the girls’ teams. It is unclear whether the Mossos d’Esquadra shared details with club officials, or if the Cornellà club chose to act on what they were told. His trial is scheduled for next Tuesday, and prosecutors seek a 15-year prison sentence.
