In 2008 a family from Morocco relocated to Spain, settling in Sant Joan Despí. They spoke little Spanish at first. A young boy soon began playing football and connected with the team’s coach at the time. The trainer, associated with a youth setup in Fontsanta Fatjó and linked to a club in Molins de Rei and some experiences in the United States, gradually drew the family into his circle. He is expected to appear in court in Barcelona on charges tied to alleged sexual offenses against a young player. The victim later faced severe distress, including two suicide attempts.

The prosecuting attorney seeks a fifteen-year prison sentence for the accused on rape charges, plus two additional years for embezzlement related to funds he allegedly took from an account opened with the young woman. The prosecutor also asks for a six-year ban from any professional activity involving minors, a restriction on approaching the victim, mandatory participation in sexual education programs, and a monetary compensation of sixty thousand euros.

Records reviewed by EL PERIÓDICO, a publication owned by the Prensa Ibérica group, indicate the accused trained a female cadet team at Fontsanta Fatjó until mid-2022. The victim herself played for the same club through at least the 2014-2015 season, a period during which the prosecution asserts further sexual assaults occurred. The accused continued to participate in games the following year. Attempts to obtain a direct response from the currentFontsanta Fatjó leadership were unsuccessful.

strange relationship

The prosecution contends that the defendant portrayed himself as a protective figure to the victim’s family, describing a relationship that resembled a parent-child bond. He allegedly referred to the girl as his daughter and arranged for her to call him daddy, aligning himself with the family through this dynamic.

As of March first, 2012, the young woman and her relatives could not speak or understand Spanish well. They authorized the defendant to act as their representative before Spanish private institutions, trusting that this arrangement covered football-related activities. In reality, the coach positioned himself as the de facto legal representative of the minor and opened a joint account in which he was a co-owner. In one case, scholarship funds were allegedly diverted without the girl’s knowledge.

The gravest incidents occurred between June 2013 and December 2014. The girl was between the ages of 15 and 16. The accused faced multiple alleged sexual assaults—carried out without consent and accompanied by intimidation—exploiting the trust of the minor’s parents and the seemingly close relationship. Statement descriptions emphasize the defendant’s physical dominance in these episodes.

sexual assaults

One incident in June 2013 occurred when the minor was in a private room; the accused allegedly acted with sexual intent, kissed the victim on the lips in a moment described as parental affection, and urged the minor toward acts of oral sex. Weeks later a similar incident occurred in a car, during which the defendant pressured the girl to engage in masturbation, threatening harm if she resisted.

A separate assault on January 12, 2014, allegedly took place in the home, with the defendant grabbing the girl and raping her. The young person sought medical help at a local hospital, though details of the injury source were not disclosed. The same pattern recurred on additional occasions at home and in a car, all described as violent. The distress from these events contributed to the victim’s decision to seek psychological help after multiple periods of acute crisis, including two suicide attempts in late 2015.
