Alicante authorities announced the arrest of five individuals connected to a serious case involving corruption against minors. The group allegedly distributed numerous child exploitation files through national and international chat rooms and forums. Reports indicate the suspects used psychotropic substances and drugs that can heighten sexual arousal, and they face drug trafficking charges linked to the case.
In 2021, a man reported receiving messages containing highly explicit files depicting minors. Following that alert, the VIII Cybercrime Group of the Madrid Judicial Police began an inquiry and traced the sender to a resident of Alicante.
Subsequently, the investigation was taken up by Alicante’s Provincial Police Station Technological Crimes Group. In a case involving a 33-year-old man, the investigation began with the information provided by Madrid authorities. A search of the residence in Alicante led to the capture of the suspect, under judicial authorization, during which evidence was gathered.
Pedophile files and drugs
arrested suspect’s mobile device contained a large quantity of child exploitation material, which appeared to have been distributed through various private channels and chat groups both inside the country and abroad.
Additionally, substantial quantities of narcotic drugs were seized, including speed, cocaine, methamphetamines, ecstasy tablets, erectile dysfunction medications, liquid ecstasy, and GBL, a chemical often used in drug manufacturing, along with numerous drug packaging items.
As the inquiry continued, investigators identified another individual involved in the network within Alicante. A home search uncovered extensive digital material, including child exploitation files, and additional psychoactive substances. Documents indicated the main objective was to supply nightlife venues for private parties, with evidence of an advance payment of 14,600 euros.
More detainees in the state
Further investigative work led to the identification and arrest of three more members of the group, all facing charges of corruption against minors. Two arrests occurred in Alicante, while the third took place in El Pedreguer, Alicante. Computer equipment in the homes of several suspects contained predominantly child exploitation content.
In total, five men were placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, and two were remanded in custody immediately.
