The Alicante Bar Association will launch a new mediation and conciliation service backed by more than 600 professionals to help ease the province’s courts which handle over 6,000 civil and commercial cases each year. The service, named ICAMASC, will begin on April 3 as a result of the Justice Efficiency Law. The regulation aims to modernize the courts for the twenty‑first century and will require litigants from that date forward to prove that attempts to settle were made through appropriate dispute resolution channels. It prioritizes out‑of‑court solutions and seeks to relieve courts of matters that do not require a trial and could be resolved through effective negotiation. The Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Alicante, Icali, plans to leverage its extensive experience in training mediation and conciliation experts to perform these duties, making it the first in the Valencian Community to do so and the third in Spain.
