Aldi, the German discount grocery giant, keeps expanding its Spain-based subsidiary footprint. The San Isidro operation oversees a logistics platform that serves Aldi’s network and supports the chain’s stores across the surrounding provinces. Data filed in the Commercial Registry show that Aldi San Isidro Supermercados acquired assets in 2021. Revenues topped 312 million euros, marking an 8.7% rise from the previous year according to the company’s financial disclosures.
In this context, the so‑called hard discount specialist is not only sustaining the strong momentum seen in 2020 when lockdowns boosted retail sales, but it is also pushing ahead with substantial progress. Growth is driven in large part by the group’s expansion plans and the opening of new facilities in the region, underscoring a deliberate strategy to deepen market coverage and operational efficiency.
The company reported profits for the second consecutive year, recording around 1.2 million euros in earnings, a figure that roughly doubles the income of the prior year and signals improving profitability alongside scale.

On the workforce front, Aldi San Isidro reported an average staff level of 1,154 employees in 2021, an increase of 46 workers from 2020. The balance sheets indicate that the workforce includes up to 746 permanent positions, reflecting a steady consolidation of employment as the business grows.
Founded in 2004, the San Isidro unit is among the German chain’s principal Spanish subsidiaries and operates key logistics platforms that support Aldi’s national network. The broader Aldi Spain group also maintains other regional operations, including a distribution entity in Barcelona, a facility in Madrid, and a pair of sister companies serving Sevilla and neighboring areas.
Currently, the firm is moving forward with a new logistics hub in Sagunto. This facility will span around 30,000 square meters and is slated to become fully operational in 2024, according to announcements from the group. Plans are also underway for a similar project in Miranda de Ebro, Burgos, highlighting an ongoing push to modernize storage, increase throughput, and improve delivery times across Spain.

These new centers are part of a broader push to accelerate the brand’s expansion in Spain, with the goal of adding fifty more supermarkets across the country in the coming year. In the Valencian Community alone, Aldi already operates sixty‑four stores, and recent openings include two new locations in Gran Alacant and Dénia, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to regional growth and consumer access to price-conscious shopping.
